The Baobab Rug in beige uses altered woven loop pile heights, yarn thickness and densities to create a deep relief effect. Bringing depth to the organic design, the pronounced effect is distinct and apparent at every angle. Baobab is the tree symbol of Senegal, which its inhabitants believe has magical powers. The spirits of ancestors are thought to live in the trunks of these gigantic trees and Louis de Poortere’s design is inspired by the bark. Baobab perpetuates the tree’s magical spirit across a palette of rich colours blue, copper, gold and beige.

Louis de Poortere rugs can be machine washed to remove the dirt and stubborn marks that regular vacuuming and spot cleaning can’t shift. Every Louis de Poortere can be washed on a gentle spin cycle at 30°C to restore its appearance and give years of use in the home.
Vacuum clean regularly, do not pull the loose ends, trim with scissors.
Remove spills immediately, blot any liquid with a clean, dry, undyed cloth or paper towel.
