I bought a rug from them that I later found out cannot be got wet at all (what an absurd thing for a rug?!). However, a link on the website from the product page said to clean daily spills with a damp cloth.
In addition to the incorrect cleaning information, Heal's have admitted that the salesperson in the shop should have told me that the rug wasn’t suitable for people with pets or young children. We have both.
So when one of our cats brought up a furball on the rug soon after we bought it, we cleaned it with a damp cloth and now the rug is damaged.
As a direct response to my complaint they changed the cleaning advice on the product page, and have offered to 'contribute' towards a professional 'cleaning quotation'. I have been told that there is no guarantee that cleaning it will repair the damage.
I have said that I don't want the rug, I shouldn't have been sold it in the first place, and that even though I think they should refund me, I would accept a credit note so that I can choose a rug that is more suitable. They are still refusing and are putting it down to “accidental damage or customer misuse”.
Incidentally, when I spoke to one of their recommended professional cleaning companies, the lady there said they never tell customers about how difficult these rugs are to maintain - "they're just interested in the sale".
