The story behind this product

Studio was inspired by the classic Tenmoku Glaze that originated in the Chinese Song Dynasty. This is when dinnerware is covered with a thick, very dark glaze and coloured with iron oxide. The glaze usually stopped short of the outer rim, which can be seen on this collection. Until the late 16th century, Jian ware, or temmoku ware, was the type of tea bowl preferred for the highly ritualized Japanese tea ceremony.
