Shozangama

Shozangama, established in 1914, originally produced ceramic insulators. From 1950, they began making handmade pottery, utilising traditional Shino pottery methods. Shino pottery was developed about 500 years ago in the Sengoku period and traditionally incorporates motif designs of landscapes, plants or animals to reflect nature and the Japanese spirit. They now use local clay and glaze to produce “matcha chawan”, traditional Japanese tea ceremony bowls.
