Using a myriad of ground-breaking processes and unusual materials, Tom Dixon creates pieces that are both artistic and commercial. Sculpturally formed and opulently finished, his stunning range of furniture, lighting and homewares is truly captivating.
Born 1959 in Tunisia, Dixon moved to England at the age of four. Having dropped out of Chelsea School of Art, his self-taught approach to design and craft came from his love of fixing and welding motorbikes.
In 1983 he began experimenting further with a range of materials and within two years Italian furniture manufacturer Cappellini had put two of his pieces, the S Chair and Bird Lounger, into production. Since then Dixon has continued to push the boundaries of design reaching iconic status in 2000 when he was awarded the OBE for services to British Design.
Since 2002, Tom Dixon has produced a number of designs under his eponymous label. These include such modern classics as the Mirror Ball and Copper Pendant series as well as a range of industrially inspired objets and stylish home fragrances.
