Table Linen and Settings

Table linen does the visual work of dressing a table – tablecloths, runners, napkins, placemats and the small considered pieces that turn an everyday meal into something that reads as deliberate. Our collection covers pure linen, linen-cotton blends and washed cotton from leading European houses, in tonal palettes designed to layer with existing dinnerware.

A tablecloth covers the whole table and provides a continuous fabric base – formal, dressed, ideal for hiding a less-attractive table or unifying mismatched pieces. A runner covers only the centre strip, leaving the table edges visible – more casual, lets the table itself remain part of the visual scheme. Most households want both options for different occasions.

Linen drapes more elegantly and softens beautifully over years of washing. Cotton is easier to launder, less prone to creasing and more forgiving without ironing. For households committed to a dressed table, linen wins for character; for households that want low-maintenance presence, cotton is the practical answer.

Two complete sets minimum (one in use, one in the wash) – three sets if you entertain regularly. Match in tonal palette so pieces are interchangeable across dinners; this means a single linen set goes further than a pair of competing palettes that can't mix.

Not necessarily – a tonally coordinated tablecloth and napkin set in slightly different colours often reads more deliberate than a perfectly matched pair. The eye reads the variation as considered design rather than mismatched. Match exactly for the most formal occasions; vary tonally for everyday and informal dining.
