    A worktop of 90 to 120cm wide gives enough room for a mirror and the everyday edit of creams, brushes and perfume, while keeping the piece from dominating the room. Depth of 40 to 45cm comfortably holds a tray and a lamp without feeling cramped, and keeps the front edge from crowding the stool.

    Near a window gives the truest light for morning make-up and avoids shadow lines across the face. If a window isn't available, sit the table perpendicular to the main light source and pair it with a bilateral desk lamp or wall-mounted sconce pair at face level, around 160 to 170cm from the floor.

    A matching stool keeps the silhouette clean and signals the piece is meant for use, not just display. Look for a stool at the right height, around 45 to 48cm, that slides fully under the table when not in use, so the bedroom flows without obstacles around the piece.

    A dressing table with drawer depth for stationery and a worktop wide enough for a laptop can dual-role as a desk, especially in compact homes where one piece needs to earn its keep across two routines.
