    An easy-fit (sometimes 'easy-to-fit' or 'pendant fit') shade includes an internal gimbal that grips the bulb holder of an existing pendant fitting, without needing the wiring or fitting itself to be replaced. They're designed to refresh older or rented-property pendant lights at a fraction of the cost of a full lighting upgrade.

    Most modern UK pendants take a standard E27 (large screw) or E14 (small screw) bulb holder, both of which work with the standard easy-fit gimbal sizes. Older fittings or specialist holders (B22 bayonet, GU10) may need adapters or a different shade type. Check the bulb holder size before ordering; the shade product page specifies which fittings it suits.

    Yes, and LED bulbs are the recommended choice – they generate less heat than equivalent halogen or incandescent bulbs, which extends the life of the shade and prevents fabric or paper from yellowing. Always specify dimmable LED bulbs if the fitting is on a dimmer switch; non-dimmable bulbs flicker or buzz when dimmed.

    Switch off the light at the wall, let any old bulb cool, remove the existing shade, slot the easy-fit gimbal over the bulb holder, and tighten the locking ring. The whole process takes under five minutes. Always isolate the circuit at the consumer unit if you're not confident – low voltage doesn't mean no shock risk.
