Outdoor Lights

Outdoor lighting extends the usable day into dusk, turning a garden path, a patio table, or a doorstep into places that feel considered long after the sun drops. Our collection covers weatherproof wall sconces, portable rechargeable lanterns and pathway lighting, each rated for British weather and styled to sit as handsomely by day as it glows at night.

Outdoor lights need a minimum IP44 rating to handle British rain, with IP54 or higher preferred for exposed positions without overhead shelter. The first digit rates dust resistance, the second water, so a coastal garden or a light sat low at path level will benefit from IP65 to guard against both driving rain and grit.

Indoor fittings are not rated for outdoor moisture and corrode quickly even in sheltered positions, so a dedicated IP-rated outdoor fitting is always the right choice for a porch. A covered porch still sees damp air, temperature swings, and the occasional wind-driven splash, any of which can short an indoor fitting over a few seasons.

Portable rechargeable lamps transform a garden dinner: no cables running across the lawn, no hunt for a weatherproof outlet, and the freedom to move the light to wherever the evening settles. Most run 6 to 12 hours on a single charge, enough to cover a full summer evening from early drinks to the last glass of wine.

Path lighting reads best when staggered at 1.5 to 2 metres between fixtures, rather than lined up in a runway pattern. Aim the light downward with shielded heads to avoid glare, and choose a warm 2700K bulb to keep the path feeling inviting rather than clinical. Integrated LED path lights with dusk-to-dawn sensors remove any need for daily switching.
