    HAY is best known for the About A Chair (AAC) series by Hee Welling, the Palissade outdoor range by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, and a broad catalogue of accessories that has become a shorthand for contemporary Danish design. Price accessibility is central to the brand's identity.

    HAY is headquartered in Copenhagen, with production split across European and Asian manufacturers chosen for each collection's material. Design and specification are centralised in Denmark, which keeps the visual identity consistent across a very large catalogue.

    The Palissade collection by the Bouroullec brothers is the house's dedicated outdoor range, powder-coated steel with weather-sealed finishes, and covers dining, lounge and café applications. Standard HAY upholstery and ceramics are for indoor use.

    The ceramics are dishwasher and microwave safe across most of the range, with clear care notes on every product page. The reactive glazes on the Paper Porcelain and Barro lines show light variation piece to piece, which is part of the intended character.
