Brass Lighting

Brass lighting adds warmth that painted or powder-coated finishes can't match, a material that picks up surrounding colours and gets richer with age rather than flatter. The collection spans polished, brushed and aged brass in pendants, table lamps, wall lights and chandeliers, suited to both traditional and contemporary schemes.

Lacquered brass stays consistent in colour; unlacquered or natural brass will develop a patina, a softer, slightly darker surface, over years of use and exposure to air. Many designers prefer the aged version; the patina can be kept at bay with regular polishing if preferred.

Brushed brass suits contemporary rooms because the satin finish reads softer and more tactile. Polished brass feels more formal, ideal for dining rooms and traditional schemes; aged or burnished brass works especially well in period homes and modern rooms with warm-toned timbers.

Dust regularly with a soft dry cloth; lacquered brass only needs occasional polishing, while unlacquered brass benefits from a brass-specific cleaner every few months if a bright finish is preferred. Allowing patina to develop requires no care at all.

Most brass bathroom fittings are IP44-rated and lacquered to resist moisture, but check the product specification before installation. Pure brass in a steamy bathroom will patina faster than in other rooms, so plan for that character change or choose a lacquered version.
