Bath Towels

Our bath towel collection runs from weighty 700gsm Egyptian cotton bath sheets to quick-drying organic Turkish cottons and fine-loop guest towels. Each set is chosen for the weave density, absorbency and how the feel softens with washes rather than breaking down, so the towel gets better over its first year, not worse.

Grams per square metre measures the weight and density of the towel fabric. Lightweight towels of 300 to 400gsm dry quickly and suit gyms and guest bathrooms, while hotel-weight towels of 600 to 800gsm give the plush, enveloping feel most people associate with luxury but take longer to dry on the rail.

A towel in daily use is best washed every three to four uses, or weekly, so bacteria doesn't build up in the loops. Hang towels fully spread after each shower rather than folded, and they'll dry completely between uses and stretch further between washes without losing freshness.

Egyptian cotton has longer fibres and produces the softest, most absorbent towels at the luxury end, with fibre length giving strength that holds up over years of washing. Turkish cotton's flatter weave dries faster and feels less weighty, making it the better choice for warmer bathrooms and shorter drying rails.

Wash white towels separately from coloured linens at 40 to 60 degrees with a non-bleach detergent, and avoid fabric softener, which coats the loops and reduces absorbency over time. A monthly white-wash with a cup of white vinegar in place of softener refreshes the fibres and keeps the pile from matting.
