Charingworth Cutlery

Charingworth is a British cutlery maker producing stainless-steel flatware from a Sheffield workshop, the historic home of UK cutlery craft. The collection covers traditional and contemporary handle shapes, 18/10 stainless-steel construction, and modern finishes including matte black, brushed gold and classic mirror polish, each in sets sized for standard four or eight-person dining.

Charingworth cutlery is made in Sheffield, the historic centre of British cutlery manufacturing, drawing on centuries of local craft expertise. The Sheffield base is central to the brand's heritage positioning, with specific production techniques passed between generations of local craftspeople. The full range is UK-manufactured rather than imported.

All Charingworth 18/10 stainless-steel cutlery is fully dishwasher-safe, with the high nickel content of 18/10 providing superior corrosion resistance compared with cheaper 18/0 grades. Matte black PVD-coated versions are equally dishwasher-safe, as the coating bonds at the molecular level rather than being surface-applied.

Polished mirror-finish cutlery shows a bright, reflective surface, reading more formal and traditional. Brushed (satin) finish reads more modern and shows less in the way of water marks and fingerprints, suiting contemporary tables where the dinnerware itself is the visual focus rather than the cutlery.

A standard 24-piece cutlery set covers six place settings with dinner knives, dinner forks, table spoons and dessert spoons (some sets include dessert forks as the fourth piece instead). Eight-person households usually upgrade to 32-piece sets, and regular entertainers consider 42 or 48-piece sets with additional serving pieces included.
