Desk Chairs

A desk chair is the single piece of furniture that most affects how productive a home office actually is. Our collection covers ergonomic swivel chairs, classic Vitra icons (Eames, Aluminium Group) and pieces by ercol and De La Espada – both modern task chairs and design-led pieces that hold their own in a multi-use room.

If you sit at a desk for more than four hours a day, a properly ergonomic chair (with adjustable height, tilt and lumbar support) is the right answer – it pays for itself in back pain saved. For occasional desk use of an hour or two a day, a design-led timber chair is fine and often suits the room better.

If you can't achieve that, the chair is too low or too high; standard adjustable chairs cover most users between 5'2" and 6'2"."}]}]}

Newer ergonomic designs from brands like Vitra and Herman Miller have moved well away from the bulky corporate aesthetic. Pieces like the ID Trim or Sayl chair sit comfortably in a domestic space and don't read as office furniture. Materials matter – a chair in fabric and wool reads warmer than one in mesh and plastic.

A well-made ergonomic chair from a reputable brand should last 10-15 years of daily use, with most components (gas lift, casters, fabric) replaceable when they wear. Cheaper office chairs typically fail within 2-3 years – usually at the gas lift or arm joint. Investing once is the better economy.
