Liga

Liga is an Irish homeware brand founded in 2003, making ethically produced pieces for the kitchen and dining table from Portuguese cork, recycled plastics and solid woods. The collections sit quietly alongside natural materials, with a focus on everyday durability rather than display.

The brand built its reputation on Portuguese cork placemats, coasters and trivets, and has expanded into boards, serveware and recycled-plastic textiles. Every material is chosen for longevity and low environmental impact, with credentials listed per product.

Cork is naturally heat-resistant, water-resistant and renewable, the bark regrows on the same tree without harming it. On the table it protects surfaces without the clatter of hard coasters, and the patterned surfaces add quiet texture.

The rPET textiles used in runners and placemats are food-safe, wipeable and washable, and the recycling credentials are certified at source. They withstand repeated use without losing colour or stiffening.

A damp cloth and a mild detergent is all that is needed for most cork pieces; avoid soaking, which softens the bark. Left unoiled, the cork will darken gently with age, a natural patina rather than a defect.
