Mater is a Danish design brand built around the belief that design should be ethical as well as beautiful, producing chairs, stools and tables from reclaimed waste materials including coffee bean shells, fishing nets and electronics plastic. The collection works with designers including Space Copenhagen, Eva Harlou and Lennart Mørk, producing pieces with verifiable circular credentials.

    Mater is a Danish brand based in Copenhagen, with production partnerships across Europe and Asia focused on workshops that meet the brand's ethical and environmental criteria. Each piece's manufacturing location is listed on the product page, as part of the brand's commitment to full supply chain transparency.

    Mater has pioneered the use of reclaimed and waste-stream materials in mainstream furniture, including coffee bean shells, discarded fishing nets, and recycled electronics plastic. These proprietary materials are developed by Mater's own material science team and documented with third-party certification. FSC wood and GRS recycled plastics feature in the more conventional parts of the range.

    Mater's material innovations are engineered to meet or exceed the durability of conventional alternatives, with the Eternity collection stools rated for 20+ years of daily use.
