Konstantin Grcic is a German industrial designer, born in Munich in 1965 and trained at London's Royal College of Art. His studio produces furniture and lighting for leading European brands, with work held in MoMA and the Centre Pompidou. He was awarded the Compasso d'Oro in 2001.

Grcic's best-known pieces include the Chair_One for Magis (2004), the MYTO stackable chair (2008) and the Mayday lamp for Flos (1999). Each balances precise engineering with sculptural form. His work frequently anticipates materials and manufacturing advances.

Grcic's furniture and lighting suits contemporary living rooms, studies and open-plan homes, where the architectural silhouettes have room to be appreciated. Pair with pared-back rugs, solid timber and uncluttered walls to emphasise the pieces. Avoid decorative surroundings.

Grcic designs for brands with strong manufacturing standards, including Vitra, Magis and Flos, so his pieces are built to last decades of daily use. Many of his designs have been in continuous production for over 15 years, which speaks to material quality and design longevity.
