    Kartell is known for championing plastic as a premium design material, demonstrating that injection-moulded pieces could carry the same design ambition and longevity as wood or metal furniture. The Louis Ghost chair (Philippe Starck, 2002) is the brand's most famous piece, selling in the millions since launch and now held in permanent museum collections.

    Kartell pieces are manufactured at the brand's own facilities in Noviglio, near Milan, giving full control over the injection-moulding process that defines most of the collection. Specialist pieces and accessories may be produced by partner workshops, with Italian origin consistent across the full range.

    Kartell continues to increase the use of recycled and renewable materials across its collections. Key pieces, including the Componibili, are available in bio-based or recycled plastic, while the Masters and A.I. chairs are made from recycled technopolymer. The Ghost and Victoria Ghost chairs are produced using a polycarbonate derived from renewable raw materials. Kartell also publishes sustainability information across its collections.

    Kartell's outdoor-rated plastic chairs are UV-stable and fully weatherproof, designed to stay outside year-round without fading or degradation. Indoor-only pieces should not be left outside, as standard polycarbonate yellows under prolonged UV exposure. Each product page marks outdoor suitability clearly.
