    Artek is a Finnish design company founded in 1935 to manufacture and distribute the furniture of architect Alvar Aalto. The brand is best known for the Stool 60, the Paimio Chair and the 811 dining chair, all made using Aalto's pioneering bent-birch technique. Artek remains central to Scandinavian modern design.

    The majority of Artek's classic range was designed by Alvar Aalto, with important contributions from his wife Aino Aalto and later designers Ilmari Tapiovaara and Juhani Pallasmaa. More recent collaborations include work from Naoto Fukasawa, Hella Jongerius and Formafantasma, keeping the catalogue contemporary.

    Artek pieces are built to last generations, using solid Finnish birch and traditional joinery that has been refined since the 1930s. Many Stool 60 examples from the first production runs remain in daily use today, which speaks to the build quality. Prices reflect the longevity and design heritage.
