Christmas Baubles

A well-chosen bauble collection turns a Christmas tree from generic festive decoration into something that reads as personal taste. Our luxury Christmas baubles include hand-blown mercury glass, mouth-blown coloured glass from traditional European makers, brushed metal and ceramic designs from independent studios. Each bauble is packaged to protect it through many seasons.

A 6ft tree looks fully decorated with around 50 to 80 baubles across mixed sizes; larger 7 to 8ft trees benefit from 100 to 150. Varying sizes reads more considered than uniform ones. Reserving a handful of hero baubles for prominent positions focuses the eye on the best pieces.

Restricted palettes of two to three tones consistently look more considered than maximalist mixes of every colour. Classic combinations include warm metals with deep red; pale gold with blush pink; silver, grey and white. The tree decorations should complement the room rather than compete with it.

Hand-blown glass baubles are more delicate than moulded glass or plastic alternatives and need careful storage between seasons. Wrapping each one individually in tissue paper inside a compartmented box extends their life significantly. With proper care, good baubles last for decades.

Building a bauble collection gradually is the traditional approach, with a few standout new pieces each season adding to the overall scheme. Sticking to a consistent palette across years keeps the tree cohesive as the collection grows. Gifted baubles often become the most sentimental pieces in the eventual collection.
