Wooden Garden Furniture

Wooden garden furniture weathers into something more beautiful than it started, with teak, acacia and FSC-certified hardwoods acquiring a silver patina that many owners come to prefer over the fresh-cut finish. Our range covers dining sets, benches, loungers and occasional tables, built to withstand UK weather with proper seasonal maintenance. Every piece is suited to genuine outdoor use.

Teak remains the standard-bearer for outdoor timber, thanks to its high natural oil content and tight grain that resists moisture and insects. Acacia, eucalyptus and FSC-certified alternatives offer comparable durability at varying price points. Softwoods like pine work short-term but need regular sealing to last multiple seasons.

Oiling is a choice rather than a necessity for teak. Untreated teak silvers to a soft grey within the first year, which many owners prefer aesthetically. Applying teak oil maintains the original honey colour but needs annual reapplication and won't make the wood more durable. The decision is purely about look.

Solid hardwood furniture can remain outside through UK winters, though storing cushions indoors and covering pieces during prolonged rain extends their lifespan considerably. Elevating furniture slightly off damp ground in winter prevents moisture pooling under the feet. Occasional brushing clears leaf debris from joints.

A mild soap solution and a soft-bristled brush remove surface dirt without damaging the silvered patina. Heavier cleaning to restore the original colour requires a teak-specific cleaner followed by light sanding. Pressure washers should be avoided as they can raise the grain and shorten the furniture's life.
