Small Coffee Tables

A small coffee table finds its place in compact living rooms and snugs where a full-sized coffee table would dominate the seating arrangement. Our small coffee table range includes round, square and elongated oval formats in solid timber, marble, painted metal and fluted glass, typically sized between 60 and 90cm across. Each piece is scaled for proper proportion with two or three-seat sofas.

Small coffee tables usually sit between 60 and 90cm across, paired with sofas up to around 200cm wide. The table should be roughly half to two-thirds the width of the sofa it sits in front of. Height typically runs 40 to 45cm, close to the seat height for comfortable use.

Pairing two small nesting or side-by-side coffee tables gives flexibility that a single large piece can't, allowing one to move where needed for drinks or a laptop. Varying the heights slightly creates visual interest. This approach also makes repositioning the room easier.

Round coffee tables work particularly well in small rooms, as they remove the visual weight of corners and let traffic flow around them more naturally. Square and oval formats also work but benefit from more space around them. Avoid long rectangular coffee tables in tight rooms.

Leave at least 45cm between the coffee table and the front of the sofa, enough for comfortable leg room and to walk past when needed. The same clearance works between the table and any facing chairs. Less space than this makes the arrangement feel cramped.
