    Industrial floor lamps draw on factory and workshop lighting, using exposed metalwork, visible bulbs and mechanical joints rather than decorative shades. Finishes tend toward brushed steel, black powder coat and aged brass. The look is practical by design, which is why these lamps age particularly well.

    Industrial floor lamps suit living rooms with darker palettes, leather seating or reclaimed timber, where the metalwork echoes other materials in the room. They also work alongside open brickwork and poured-concrete floors. Pair them with a directional task use, such as beside an armchair or reading corner.

    Vintage-style filament LED bulbs are the best match for exposed-bulb industrial lamps, as they echo the original Edison and Mazda designs without the heat of old incandescent bulbs. Choose warm-white (2,700K) for ambient warmth, or a slightly cooler 3,000K for task use.

    Industrial floor lamps tend to have strong vertical proportions, so they suit small rooms well when placed in a corner. The slim metalwork takes up less visual weight than a fabric drum shade, and the directional light keeps the rest of the room in soft shadow, which can make small rooms feel larger.
