Home Office Furniture

Home-office furniture has stepped out of the spare-room-and-shared-laptop phase into something considered: a proper desk, a chair that looks as good as it sits, and storage that pulls closed when the working day ends. Our collection pulls together desks, ergonomic task chairs and low-profile storage in finishes designed to read as living-room-appropriate.

A desk used for full working days benefits from a 140 to 160cm width, giving room for a monitor, laptop and a notebook without stacking. A depth of 60 to 70cm keeps the screen at a healthy viewing distance, and a cable management tray on the underside keeps the surface tidy enough that the desk still reads as furniture when the laptop closes.

A compact desk paired with a matching storage cabinet allows the full working setup to tuck away at the end of the day: laptop into the cabinet, papers into a drawer, chair rolled under the desk. Pick desks with no visible cable ports and cabinets with solid fronts, so the two pieces read as considered furniture rather than office equipment left out.

A task chair should adjust so the elbows sit at 90 degrees above the desk surface and the feet rest flat on the floor. For a 72cm-high desk, that usually means a seat height of 42 to 47cm, with adjustment range either side for taller or shorter users. A sturdy footrest fills any gap if the chair bottoms out before the feet reach the ground.

Leather office chairs wipe clean and age handsomely, making them the longer-term choice for a home office in daily use. Fabric chairs breathe better in summer and come in a wider range of colours and textures, suiting rooms where the chair needs to coordinate with soft furnishings rather than stand apart as an executive piece.
