    De La Espada is a furniture house founded in 1993 that works almost exclusively in solid FSC-certified hardwoods, produced at the company's own Portuguese factory. The catalogue combines long-standing collaborations with Matthew Hilton alongside newer work from Neri&Hu and Nichetto Studio.

    Every piece is built at De La Espada's factory in Portugal, using oak and walnut sourced from managed European forests. The factory is fully vertically integrated, from log to final finish, which is part of how quality consistency is maintained.

    Yes, almost every item is built on receipt of order rather than held as stock, which allows the customer to specify timber, finish and upholstery. Lead times reflect this, typically 8-12 weeks, but the trade-off is a piece built precisely to the specification.

    De La Espada uses hardwax oils and natural finishes rather than lacquer, which allows the grain to remain visible and the surface to age gracefully. An annual refresh with the recommended oil keeps the timber hydrated for decades of use.
