Chairs

A well-chosen chair settles a room, whether that's the single sculptural piece in a hallway or the matched set pulled up to a dining table. Our chair collection spans dining, lounge, office and occasional chairs from designer names including Fritz Hansen, Vitra, Ercol and Carl Hansen, in timber, metal, upholstery and moulded forms. Every piece is chosen for lasting design.

A dining chair is purpose-built for seated meals with a supportive back and seat height around 45cm, while a side chair is a more general-purpose occasional chair often used against walls or as accent seating. Side chairs typically have shallower proportions and lighter construction. Both can work as dining seating depending on comfort.

Match chair count to table capacity, usually six for a standard 160 to 180cm table and eight for larger formats. Buying an extra pair beyond the immediate need covers larger gatherings and means replacements are available if a chair is damaged. Order all chairs together to guarantee consistent finish batches.

Mixing chairs around a table is a long-established look, most often done by pairing matched head chairs with different side seating. Keeping either the chair height or the colour family consistent prevents the mix from reading as accidental. Two-tone arrangements with two alternating chair styles can work beautifully.

Timber chairs benefit from an annual light oil, with any spills wiped immediately to avoid staining. Upholstered chairs need vacuuming and spot cleaning as part of regular maintenance. The specific care instructions for each chair appear on the product page and usually match the care for similar materials elsewhere in the home.
