Vispring has been making pocket-sprung mattresses in Plymouth since 1901, using Shetland wool, Mongolian cashmere, and individually hand-nested springs counted to the centimetre.     A Vispring mattress is built by hand from natural fibres, with each pocket spring encased in its own cotton sleeve and nested by an upholsterer rather than assembled by machine. The fillings include Shetland wool, horsehair, and in premium lines cashmere and silk, all of which breathe naturally and regulate temperature through the night in ways synthetic foams cannot.

    A Vispring mattress is engineered to last 15 years with regular care, well beyond the 8 to 10 years typical of most branded mattresses. The build is based on the principle of repair rather than replacement, with many owners keeping a single Vispring for two decades by rotating it regularly and pairing it with a protector.

    Most Vispring mattresses are built to order in Plymouth, with typical lead times of 4 to 6 weeks from order to delivery. This also allows bespoke sizing for non-standard beds, split firmness for couples with different preferences, and one-off fillings for customers with specific sleep needs. The made-to-order process is part of what keeps Vispring distinct from volume-produced alternatives.
