Tablecloths

A tablecloth turns a dining table from furniture into a stage for a meal – a continuous fabric base that unifies the place settings and dresses the room. Our luxury tablecloth collection covers pure linen, linen-cotton blends and washed cotton from leading European houses, in sizes built for round, square and rectangular dining tables in standard and oversized dimensions.

Allow 30-40cm of overhang on each side for a comfortable drop. A 180x90cm rectangular table suits a 240-260cm by 140-150cm tablecloth. Round tables need diameters 60-80cm larger than the table itself; a 120cm round table suits a 180-200cm round cloth. Pre-measure both table and intended drop before ordering.

Linen drapes more elegantly and develops a soft, lived-in character over time – the choice for households who like the look of slightly creased natural fibre. Cotton is easier to wash and iron, with crisper finish – better for households who prefer a tightly pressed table. Both work; the choice is aesthetic preference.

On hard tables (timber, marble, glass), yes – a felt or quilted underlay protects the table surface from spills, prevents the tablecloth slipping and gives the cloth a slightly fuller drape. The underlay should be slightly smaller than the cloth so it stays hidden. Without underlay, a tablecloth can slide during dinner and offers less protection to the table beneath.

Wash at 40 degrees on a wool cycle with a non-bio detergent. Don't tumble-dry – linen shrinks notably in heat. Dry-line where possible, ironing while slightly damp on a medium-hot setting for the cleanest finish. With proper care, quality linen tablecloths last decades and improve with every wash.
