Russell Pinch

Russell Pinch won Heal's Discovers in 2006 with his Yves desk and has since built Pinch Design into one of the most considered small furniture houses in Britain. The studio works in solid timber, brass and natural fibres, producing dining, lounge and bedroom furniture to a specification that sits firmly in the gallery tradition of craft production.

Russell Pinch won Heal's Discovers in 2006 for the Yves desk and founded Pinch Design the same year with partner Oona Bannon. The studio has grown into one of Britain's most respected contemporary furniture makers, with a catalogue of tables, beds, chairs and storage.

The work is quietly architectural, solid hardwood frames, brass detailing, considered joinery, with a sense of restraint that reads as British rather than Scandinavian. Each piece is designed to stand as a quiet focal point rather than to demand attention.

Production runs through a carefully selected group of UK and European workshops, with solid-timber pieces made in-house where possible. Lead times reflect the small-batch craft approach, typically 8-16 weeks from order.

Most clients specify Pinch as long-term furniture, the construction standards and timber quality justify the price, and the timeless silhouettes mean the pieces aren't tied to a specific design moment. Reupholstery and refurbishment are available from the studio directly.
