Ligne Roset

Ligne Roset has been making French contemporary furniture since 1860, with a back-catalogue that defined late-20th-century domestic design. Togo, Pumpkin, Ploum and Bloom are all still in production, built at the company's Briord factory alongside new collaborations with designers working out of Paris, Milan and Tokyo.

The Togo is Ligne Roset's most recognised piece, Michel Ducaroy's low, quilted 1973 seat, still made on the original tooling at the Briord factory. It has become one of the most copied sofas in design history, which only reinforces the value of the original.

All upholstery is produced at the Briord factory in eastern France, where Ligne Roset has operated for over 50 years. The company runs its own workshops for metal, timber and upholstery, which is unusual for a brand of its scale.

The Togo Fireside and Togo Small Settee are compact enough for flats, and the Ploum Small fits similarly narrow proportions. The Facett and Ruché ranges offer slimmer silhouettes that open up smaller living rooms without losing Ligne Roset's character.

The upholstered frames are built on solid timber and steel, not particleboard, and covers are replaceable by the factory across most of the range. A Togo purchased today can reasonably be expected to outlast two or three cover changes.
