    Kitchen wall lights work best above splashbacks, between upper cabinets and over breakfast nooks, where they provide focused task light without glare. Mount task lights around 60–75cm above the worktop for effective illumination. For ambient light, position wall lights around 170cm from the floor.

    Most kitchen zones accept standard IP-rated wall lights, but areas close to sinks and splashbacks may require higher IP ratings to protect against moisture. Check the bathroom-zone equivalents if in doubt. Always consult a qualified electrician for installation in wet or high-humidity zones.

    Kitchens benefit from slightly cooler light than living rooms, typically in the 3,000K range, which reads as bright and alert without feeling clinical. Warm-white 2,700K suits breakfast nooks and softer evening use. Avoid very cool 4,000K+ bulbs, which can flatten food colours.
