    Start with one substantial piece – a sculptural vase, a large candle, a framed artwork – placed where the eye lands first when you walk in. That anchor establishes the palette and scale; smaller pieces follow once the anchor is in place. Trying to layer in lots of small pieces without an anchor usually creates clutter rather than character.
