[ Design notes ]

David Booth has taken Harry Beck's classic Underground map, added his flair and humour to present a clever play on the word 'tube'.

This poster was commissioned in 1986 as part of the Art On The Underground series. The campaign was established the previous year as a conscious attempt to re-establish the London Transport poster tradition. Tate Gallery by Tube, by David Booth, was the most popular of the series and reproductions continue to sell all over the world. Booth's witty adaptation of Harry Beck's original diagram presents the principal Underground lines in paint, presenting a clever play on the word 'tube'.

Chosen by Heals from the impressive King & Mcgaw range.
Handmade black ash frame, fitted with D-rings and picture cord for easy wall mounting.
Giclée fine art print on matt 250gsm conservation digital paper, made in Germany from acid- and chlorine-free wood pulp. Archival quality with a soft texture and superior image fidelity.
This print was created for the Art of the Underground series and is still one of the most popular posters today.
