Shaking or beating a hand-tufted rug could damage it irreparably. The only recommended cleaning technique is the use of professional cleaning machines.
Do not wash with water. Do not bleach.
Absorb moist stains immediately with paper towels and then dab with a cloth dampened slightly with lukewarm water.
For hard-to-remove stains, pH-neutral detergents without bleaching agents can be used. After removing the stain, carefully remove the detergent to restore the natural characteristics of the fibres.
