Wall Hooks

Wall hooks solve small daily storage problems with the lightest possible touch – somewhere for a coat, a bag, a towel, a hat. Our collection covers brass, ceramic, leather-strap and timber hooks from leading European designers, in finishes that work in hallways, bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchens without dominating the wall they're mounted on.

Coat hooks at around 1.5m to 1.7m from the floor – at shoulder height for an average user. Children's hooks at 1.1m to 1.3m so they can reach without help. Towel hooks in bathrooms at 1.5m to 1.7m so towels hang clear of the floor. Match height to use; getting it wrong is the most common mistake on wall hooks.

Single hooks (one screw, one fixing) suit one-coat-per-spot situations – beside a front door, in a bathroom for a single towel. Rails of hooks (a horizontal bar with multiple hooks) suit busy households and family hallways where multiple coats and bags hang together. Both formats work; the choice is about volume.

Single screws into solid wall (brick, plaster on solid masonry) hold 5-10kg comfortably – plenty for a wool coat or a small bag. Hooks into plasterboard need wall plugs and may be limited to 3-5kg. For heavier loads (heavy winter coats, gym bags, multiple items per hook), use brass or steel hooks with substantial fixings rather than decorative ceramic or leather pieces.

Hallways (for coats, bags, hats, leads), bathrooms (for towels, bathrobes), bedrooms (for dressing gowns, jewellery, bags) and kitchens (for tea towels, aprons, oven gloves). The format earns its place in any room where you want quick-access storage that doesn't take floor space. Avoid placing wall hooks above heating sources, which can damage hung items.
