Tableware

Our tableware collection pulls together everything that dresses the table, from porcelain dinnerware and hand-thrown bowls to cutlery, glassware and linens. Chosen from makers we return to season after season, each range is built to mix with existing pieces, so a single addition refreshes the table without starting from scratch.

Start with a neutral base of white or off-white dinnerware, then layer textured sides, earthenware bowls and coloured glassware that shift with the time of year. Storing seasonal pieces separately keeps the everyday cupboard edited, and gives occasions like Christmas or summer lunches their own sense of ceremony when the pieces reappear.

Mixing works beautifully when you hold one element constant, usually the plate or the glassware, and let the rest express variety. A shared colour palette across otherwise different makers reads as collected rather than mismatched, and gives a dinner table the informal charm of a home that's been lived in.

Dinner plates, a good wine glass and a solid cutlery set earn their place quickly, since they appear on every table. Beyond that, a single sculptural serving bowl or carafe does more for a dinner party than a full second set, bringing character to the table without expanding the cupboard.

Cupboard over drawer for most plates and bowls, since vertical stacking weight is easier to manage. Cutlery benefits from a lined drawer insert that prevents pieces knocking, and glassware should sit rim-up if stems are tall, rim-down if short, avoiding long-term pressure on the delicate top edge.
