All rugs

A rug grounds a room in a way no other single piece can, defining zones, softening acoustics and introducing colour or pattern without commitment to wall treatments. Our rug collection covers wool, cotton, jute, silk-blend and sheepskin constructions, in sizes from small hallway runners to oversized pieces suited to open-plan living rooms. Every rug is sourced from established makers with transparent production.

For a living room, the rug should extend at least partially under the front legs of all major furniture pieces, anchoring the seating arrangement as a group. For dining rooms, the rug should sit large enough that chairs remain on it when pulled out. Bedrooms typically use rugs large enough to extend beyond the bed on three sides.

Wool is the most durable natural rug material for domestic use, hiding dirt well and recovering its shape after furniture compression. Hand-knotted wool rugs from established weavers can last several generations with proper care. Jute is durable but shows dirt more; silk and silk-blends are more delicate.

Vacuum wool and cotton rugs weekly for everyday maintenance, and rotate the rug every six months to distribute wear. Deep professional cleaning every two to three years extends the rug's life significantly. Spot-clean spills immediately to prevent staining.

A non-slip underlay is strongly recommended for any rug on hard flooring, both to prevent movement and to add cushioning and acoustic absorption. Underlays also protect the rug's fibres from friction against the floor beneath. Trim the underlay 2cm smaller than the rug on all sides so it stays invisible.
