Round Rugs

A round rug breaks the rectangular grammar of a room, softer under foot, more forgiving of asymmetric furniture layouts and quieter underneath round tables or in front of round sofas. The collection covers hand-knotted wool, flatweaves, tufted viscose and natural fibres in diameters from 120cm to 300cm, each chosen for how the form reads in a specific room.

Round rugs suit rooms with round or sculptural furniture, round dining tables, curved sofas, circular coffee tables, and spaces where the existing geometry is already rectangular. In those settings, a round rug reads as deliberate punctuation rather than a compromise.

Under a round dining table, allow at least 60cm of rug extending past the chair legs when pulled out, typically a 240-270cm rug under a 120cm table. In a living room, match the rug diameter to the length of the main sofa it sits in front of.

Not really, a round rug can anchor a conversational grouping of a sofa and two chairs as successfully as a rectangle, and often reads more inviting. The key is centring the rug on the seating group rather than trying to fit it into a rectangular floor plan.

Most pile and flatweave constructions are available as round rugs, hand-knotted wool, tufted viscose, flatwoven jute, sheepskin and contemporary synthetics. Sizes are typically more limited than rectangular ranges, so lead times may be longer for bespoke diameters.
