Lightbulbs and Fittings

The right light bulb can transform the look and feel of a space, from creating a warm, ambient glow to providing bright, functional light. Our collection includes LED light bulbs in a variety of shapes, sizes and colour temperatures, making it easy to find the perfect match for your pendant, table lamp, floor lamp or wall light.

Warm white, around 2700 to 3000K, casts the amber-leaning glow most living rooms and bedrooms are built for, closest to traditional incandescent light. Cool white, 4000K and above, delivers a bluer, more alert light that suits kitchens, bathrooms and work areas, where you want clarity rather than atmosphere.

An LED bulb uses around 80 per cent less electricity than an incandescent equivalent and lasts 15 to 25 times longer, so the initial premium is typically paid back within 12 to 18 months on a bulb in daily use. For hard-to-reach fittings, the longer life is worth the cost alone for the ladder trips you'll never have to make.

The two common UK fittings are bayonet (B22) and Edison screw (E27), plus smaller versions (B15, E14) for wall lights, chandeliers and lamps. Check your existing fitting against the bulb pack before buying, and look out for specialty fittings like GU10 (spotlight pins) and G9 (compact capsule) for newer LED fittings.

Dimmable bulbs need to be paired with a compatible dimmer switch, particularly for LEDs, as older leading-edge dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs can cause flicker or buzz. A modern trailing-edge LED dimmer usually solves any compatibility questions and gives a smoother dim through the full range.
