Glassware

Our glassware collection stretches from everyday tumblers and wine glasses to hand-cut crystal decanters and sculptural coloured vessels. Chosen for their weight in the hand, the clarity of their glass and the way they ring when clinked, each piece bridges the gap between daily use and dinner-party appearance.

A well-edited household needs red wine glasses, white wine glasses, tumblers, highballs and a set of coupes or martini glasses, covering the vast majority of serves. Beyond that, specialised glasses like sherry copitas, gin balloons or whisky nosing glasses are personal choices, earning their cupboard space only when the drinker makes regular use.

Hand-blown glass carries small irregularities in rim thickness and body weight that add character, and the thinner rims transmit aromas more delicately for fine wines and spirits. Machine-made glass offers consistency, durability and lower cost, making it the everyday choice for most households, with hand-blown reserved for occasion use.

Lead crystal is best hand-washed in warm water with a mild detergent to protect the facets and prevent cloudy mineral build-up. Modern lead-free crystal performs better in a gentle dishwasher cycle but still benefits from hand-washing for longevity. Look for the dishwasher-safe mark on the product page to be sure.

Store wine glasses at room temperature rather than chilling them, which causes condensation when wine pours in and dilutes the aromatics. For sparkling wines, some hosts chill flutes briefly, though the better approach is chilling the wine itself fully and pouring into a room-temperature glass that warms the wine slightly in the hand.
