Fabric Corner Sofas

A fabric corner sofa is the social anchor of a living room – four to six seats arranged around the corner of the room rather than facing forward. Our collection covers traditional and modern silhouettes in performance wool blends, linens, velvets and bouclé fabrics, in left- and right-facing options to suit your room layout.

Performance wool blends and tightly woven linens hold up well to spills and shedding fur. Bouclé and pure velvet show marks more readily and suit households without young children or pets. Some manufacturers offer treated 'easy-clean' fabrics; these are worth specifying if the sofa will sit in a busy family room.

Allow a minimum of 3.5m by 4m for a comfortable corner sofa layout, with at least 90cm of clear walking space at the back. Smaller rooms can take a corner chaise (an L-shape with one extension instead of a full second run), which uses around 80cm less floor space than a full corner.

Stand at the entrance to the room. If the long run of the corner should be on your left as you walk in, choose left-facing; if on your right, right-facing. The decision is dictated by where the windows and doors are – usually you want the open end of the corner to face into the room rather than at a wall.

Counter-intuitively, no. A corner sofa typically replaces both a sofa and a separate armchair, which means fewer pieces of furniture in the room overall. The continuous line also makes the room read as more deliberate – a single anchor rather than a scatter of seating.
