The story behind this product

A novel design from Ferruccio Laviani, the Kartell Taj transforms the traditional reading lamp into a sculptural masterpiece. Pairing functionality with artistic flair, the Taj replaces angled lines with graceful curves and a smooth concave spine.

Meet the designer

Ferruccio Laviani

Born in Cremona in 1960, Ferruccio Laviani studied architecture at the Polytechnic Institute in Milan before bursting onto the design scene in the 1980s as part of the radical Memphis design group. Since then he has gone onto produce some of Italian designs most iconic pieces such as the FL/Y pendant and Bourgie table lamp both by Kartell.

Heal's customer Love the lamp, it looks great, but oh, I do struggle with the knack of turning it on and off and adjusting the brightness. I get there but it takes a while, though I am getting better.
