Using his breadth of experience in restoration and giving vintage furniture a new lease of life through the Jay & Co brand, the Legacy Chair sees Blades leave his own stamp on the industry as part of his vision to tackle fast-fashion and promote sustainable design.
Crafted almost entirely from recycled and reclaimed materials, the chair looks to reduce waste through longevity and responsible resourcing. The piece is upholstered in Camira Oceanic and Depth fabric, which endeavours to combat marine pollution by recycling plastic salvaged from the ocean, or from bottles destined for landfill, to make a lightly textured SEAQUAL YARN ®.
Jay Blades commented: “For a long time, I have loved being able to breathe new life into vintage and worn-out furniture. Now, I can take that mission further by finding the beauty in waste and reclaimed materials, turning them into something completely new, and I can proudly say that I am leaving a legacy behind with the chair we have created.”

What happens when I order?
- Many of our items are built to order.
- Once you've placed your order we place ours.
- As soon as our suppliers have made it and delivered to us, we contact you directly to offer a suitable delivery date.
- Deliveries are Mon-Fri but Saturday slots can often be arranged for most of the country.
Hassle-free returns
- All online furniture orders can be returned within 14 days of delivery, regardless of reason.
- Contact us and we will arrange for a crew to come out and collect the furniture.
- There's no charge if it's faulty, but we do charge for change-of-mind returns.

Brought up by his mother on a council estate in Hackney, Jay’s journey has taken many twists and turns. Jay is dyslexic and, after leaving school at 15 with no qualifications, he eventually managed to get back on track studying for a degree in criminology and philosophy at Buckingham Chilterns University. He then found his true vocation in restoration and supporting vulnerable people in our society through his former charity, Out of The Dark.
