The story behind this product
Designed as part of a commission for the University of Paris, Jean Prouvé’s Guéridon table pointed the way for furniture of the post-war period. The mix of angular shapes, crafted hardwoods and industrial inspired fixings are true to the mid-century modernist style, creating a functional piece of furniture that suits a range of interior spaces.

Care & Buying Guide
Finished using traditional wood oil finish: This finish enhances the natural structure of the wood.
Daily maintainence: Wipe with a damp cloth When done correctly, this procedure should deal with any small hairline scratches, daily wear and tear and dust build up.
Oiling: Depeninging on humidity and temperature within your home, your desk should be oiled every six months to a year.
- Avoid intense heat, corrosives or spillages. Any spillages should be wiped clean immediately.
Do not use spirits, bleaches or any other chemical cleaners to clean the timber.
Meet the designer
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Prouvé did not study architecture or design and instead trained as metal worker before opening his own workshop in Nancy in 1924. In the following years he created numerous furniture designs, and in 1947 Prouvé established his own factory with many of his pieces now produced exclusively by Vitra.View Designer
