The story behind this product
Designed by husband and wife duo Charles and Ray Eames in 1956, the Santos Palisander Eames Lounge Chair with black leather upholstery is one of the most iconic designs of the 20th Century.
The leather on this Eames Lounge Chair has been processed with a tanning agent extracted from olive tree leaves (a waste product of the olive harvest), and the entire production process is carried out with the least hazardous chemicals in the smallest possible amounts
Accompanied by a coordinating ottoman, this edition combines Vitra’s premium cowhide leather in black with a Santos Palisander wood shell.
Over the last 60 years, the average height has increased by nearly 10cm. In 2010, Vitra introduced this scaled-up Eames Lounger, meaning everyone can experience the same comfort originally intended.
