The story behind this product

Created by legendary designer Achille Castiglioni in 1998, the aptly-named Diabolo is composed of two arresting aluminium cones. They’re connected by an adjustable cord, which can be extended or retracted to suit different lighting needs. The bottom cone houses the light source, while the top cone neatly conceals a pulley mechanism. Delivering downward directed light, this versatile pendant is perfect for use over desks, dining tables and kitchen islands.

Meet the designer

Achille Castiglioni

Born 1918 in Milan, Achille Castliglioni studied architecture before bringing his process of 'integral design' to a number of the world's biggest manufacturers. Working closely with his brother Pier Giacomo, Achille designed a series of iconic pieces of furniture and lighting noted for their refined, sculptural approach to modernist design.
