Arne Jacobsen

Born in Copenhagen in 1902, Jacobsen studied Architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts where he later became professor. Following the Second World War, a period in which the designer was forced to flee his homeland for neighbouring Sweden, Jacobsen produced a number of iconic pieces for which he is primarily remembered.
Epitomising the mid-century, Scandi style, his designs for furniture manufacturers such as Fritz Hansen continue to prove popular and have been in constant production since his passing. Such infamous designs include the Drop chair and Egg Lounge chair, both of which were originally made to feature as part of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen – the crowning achievement in Jacobsen's architectural career.
