Heal's Fabrics

In 2014, Heal's own-brand fabrics returned to our stores with the launch of our first textile collection since the 1970s.

Building upon our heritage of working with and promoting emerging and established designers, we commissioned 10 exclusive patterns that celebrate colour and individuality.

Named after the year that Heal's was established, 1810 is an exclusive collection of home accessories designed to update your space instantly.

The range of kitchen textiles and cushions feature selected patterns from our latest fabric range.

Iconic Designs

Having gained experience in the field during the Second World War, we soon switched are focus from making parachutes to pioneering new styles and techniques of textile production. This period saw a number of leading figures produce prints for our fabrics department, including long-running collaborations with Mid-century icons and experimental designers.

Lucienne Day

Borne out of her husband Robin Day's need for a modern fabric in keeping with his furniture, in 1951 Lucienne Day created the iconic Calyx for the Festival of Britain. Over the next two decades, Lucienne went on to design more than 70 patterns for Heal's fabrics department.

Barbara Brown

"Barabara Brown has become the golden girl of Heal's Fabrics" proclaimed our Fabrics brochure in 1967. Throughout the 1960s and early 1970s, the Royal College of Art graduate produced many designs for the fabrics department. Creating optical illusions, she used mathematical formulae to suggest motion, also employing strongly contrasting areas of light and shade to give a three-dimensional effect.
